The Avengers: What Happened and Whats Next

Final Scene in Avengers: Infinity War

MAJOR SPOILERS IN THIS POST
YOU'VE BEEN WARNED

If you have seen Avengers: Infinity War (AIW), then you recognize this image. It's where Thanos sits and watches the sunrise which he mentions earlier in the movie. He explains that once he has all the stones he will wipe out half of all leaving things and then watch the sunset...and that is exactly what happens. After the movie, my future father-in-law and I just sat and tried to wrap our minds around what we just watched. AIW was a good movie, I would definitely see it again and seeing how all the characters work around each other was good to see. I loved the introduction to the iron-spider, Thor meeting the Guardians of the Galaxy, and how everyone had some form of significance. What we are used to in every Marvel Universe movie is a good ending. Even the ending of Civil War ended on a somewhat good note. We are not used to seeing the Avengers lose which they did miserably in this movie. Watching Spiderman crumble in Tony's arms, Black Panther in front of his soldiers, Bucky in front of Steve, and Groot next to Rocket was such a hard scene to watch. No music, just beloved characters turning to ash. Just for Thanos to sit and watch the sunrise. I can't be mad and say that this movie is bad because of this final scene but I will say I was disappointed. Ten years we saw the beginning of the Avengers with Iron Man talking to Nick Shield. This was the movie that built up so many characters, just for it to leave us hanging...again. After all the credits, it even says "Thanos will return" which only added insult to injury.

I wasn't too crushed by seeing the characters die because I know they will be coming back. Do you really think that they are going to kill off Black Panther and Spiderman with them only having one movie each? At the end of Dr. Strange and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2, both movies set up their next villains, Mordo and Adam Warlock. We all know they will come back and I feel that this is somewhat shady. We haven't really experienced serious loss in these movies due to the fact that they can come back in some shape or form. These movies are very good at the Ex Machina movie strategy of one thing fixes everything.

What We Know

The after credits scene has Nich Fury calling Captain Marvel before he crumbles away. Captain Marvel, will be released on March 8th, 2019 and will be a prequel to AIW. Brie Larson will star in Captain Marvel and will be coming out only two months before the second Avengers movie. She was only mentioned once in Dr. Strange when Dr. Strange is discussing surgeries in his car before his accident. Captain Marvel is a really cool character. Super strength, flight, and cosmic powers could make her one of the strongest heroes in the Marvel Universe. We know that Ant-Man will be receiving a sequel which I assume will happen prior to the events of AIW. Other than that, I am not really sure what next will come to Marvel. Since Hulk played such a little role in this movie, I know he will have more playtime as the hulk in the next film. I also noticed that all the original Avengers and assuming Hawkeye survived, survived the gauntlet which could show that they will be bringing the fight to Thanos, who they all did fight in the first Avengers

What I Want

With so many Avengers out for the count, I know whoever is left is going to need reinforcements to take on Thanos and his infinity gauntlet. Think of this sections as my fantasy team that I would want to see in the next Avengers film. So let's start off with Ghost Rider. No, wait! Please don't go! I know Nicholas Cage botched the ghost rider name but I think Ghost Rider could play a big part in the upcoming film. With so many deaths, I believe that the Avengers making a deal with Ghost Rider to bring back some of the Avengers back from the dead could be a cool arc in the storyline. This was somewhat seen in the video game, Marvel's Ultimate  Alliance, you actually had to get Ghost Rider from hell. Since Nicholas Cage's Johny Blaze is still burned into our heads, introducing Robbie Reye's Ghost Rider (see image above) would be great to have in the Marvel Universe.

The Wolverine

Anyone else notices the 3 slash marks on Thanos' face? I know this couldn't be Wolverine but man, how crazy would that be? Hugh Jackman has mentioned in the past that he would reprise his role for Deadpool, but I wonder how much Disney would offer him to take up the Wolverine again. I know people would want the entire X-Men crew to be in this fight, but with Fox showing no sign of ending the X-Men series, I would want them to have Wolverine join the Avengers just as they did for QuickSilver. Let's just hope it doesn't end up for Wolverine the same way as QuickSilver.

Rescue

With Thanos having all the infinity stones, Tony Stark is going to need some help. Rescue is the Iron Man Armor worn by Pepper Potts. Now that we have Gwyneth Paltrow back into the fold, Rescue could be a great addition to the Avengers series. Pepper Potts also has Killian's powers in her still, but maybe that should just stay in Iron Man 3.

Nova

We see a lot of people wearing the Nova armor in the first Guardians of the Galaxy in the planet Nova Prime. Here is his bio from the Marvel Wiki: Randomly chosen to become a member of the Nova Corps until the Annihilation Wave destroyed them all, leaving him imbued with their combined power and guided by the super-intelligent Worldmind computer, Richard Rider wages a one-man battle for justice as Nova. Think of this as the Green Lantern corp of the Marvel Universe. Nova is a literal human rocket and with Nova Prime also falling to Thanos, Nova taking up to fight could have a large role outside of earth since only Rocket and Nebula are the only survivors of the Guardians. Nova has super strength, flight, and can absorb energy. Nova is a force to be reckoned with and he could really bring a fight to Thanos.

Shuri

The little sister of the Black Panther could eventually take the suit as her own against Thanos. In the comics, Shuri eventually becomes the Black Panther and with T'Challa falling victim to the gauntlet, this could be Shuri's time to shine. The fans really liked her in Black Panther and she put up a good fight in AIW. We know she can fight and I would love to see what she could bring with her own Black Panther armor.

Agent Venom

Finally and the least likely, Agent Venom. Venom has been one of my favorite characters in the Marvel Universe and Agent Venom is such a cool character. Flash Thompson loses his legs in war and receives the symbiote to regain his legs. He is able to control the symbiote but if he loses he cool he can become just as violent and sporadic as Eddie Brock's Venom. Another cool fact about Agent Venom is that he eventually joins the Guardians of the Galaxy. I know with Sony's Venom coming out this October I know Disney won't even have the rights to the venom name even though it is a different character completely. I think Agent Venom could be of a secret force affiliated with Shield and that he would be called to the fight due to Shield losing their leader, Nick Fury.

In Conclusion

This is all hypothetical and I know a lot of my predictions probably but won't happen and thats okay. Who do you think should come to the silver screen in the next Avengers film? Did I miss some essintial characters? Think we had some characters we defeinly don't want in the next film? Feel free to comment. I would love a discussion going on this topic of what team you would want to build for the next film! Thanks for reading!
