The Owl

(Owl Painting by EvelineVdp)

Why are you still here? The owl was one of the wisest of the animals in the forest. He was always around, and all the animals would follow him before the wolves and the bears came into the forest. The owl was bitter due to losing his power to a rabbit long before the wolf came into focus. The wolf was patient, and knew when to strike, which at this time was not the time. The owl fail from grace long before anyone tried to bring him down. All of his failures were due to his own actions. He would sneak off and engage with the pleasures that was not acceptable in the forest. Of course, all the animals did things that were not acceptable in the forest. The owl was from an old era, which he could not adapt to the change with the different animals that rose to power over the years. The owl could not accept defeat, which lead to his downfall. The owl wanted the best for the forest, and his ideas were genuine. He meant well, forgiving, but was not afraid to set an example. You see the owl could not let the past die. He would cast out any new threat that may do harm to the forest that he so loved. All of his friends were gone and he knew the forest had such little for him now. He had to let go of what he loved because he was the old among the forest. He knew that he lost his power within his claws and was now just another animal. He was a bystander. No one cared for his advice so true it could be considered gospel. So the owl had to go away from that forest as he would rather see the forest as he left than see it crash down upon him. He set his nest close to always keep an eye on the forest but even then he could not bear to see what the forest may become in the near future. I felt for the owl. I was cruel to him at times due to his set ways. He would push me away to keep his sacred forest safe. I respected the owl for that. I don't believe he thought I was bad for the forest. I think he thought the forest was bad for me.
