The Mountain Lion

(Early Morning Turkey Hunt by Rob Dreyer AFC)

Are you afraid? The mountain lion could have been the best thing to have ever come into that forest. The mountain lion would slowly make herself present to the other animals. She was fierce to the animals among her. Only the foolish animals tried to bring her down to their levels and failed. She was not to be taken lightly because her mindset was focused on the one thing the other animals did not want to see come into fruition. Change. The mountain lion could bring change and she did to that forest. Only few animals could climb the trees as the forest was washed clean. The wolf became occupied, the bear faded, the stag in a distant land. The forest needed a leader, someone to follow, someone that could make the forest to it's former glory. The mountain lion could be the only one that could make the forest what the forest was suppose to be to the animals. The mountain lion was strong, but sadly, I don't think strong enough. She had the forces of the rabbits and the hawk to aid in her change, but maybe the fox was not fond with this change. The foxes had other plans than the mountain lion. They guided the deer to follow down a path that the mountain lion could not stop. Maybe the foxes were tired of bowing down to the wolves that broke them down, that they felt that they were entitled to have the forest for their own. Did the other animals like the way things were in that forest? The mountain lion knew the schemes of the fox, and used her will to stop, or at least slow down the rampancy of the plans of the other animals. The mountain lion was a mighty creature in the forest, but she was overthrown by the masses. She realized that she could not change the animals that did not want change. She could not save the animals that did not want to save, and that was the mountain lion's downfall. She knew that change would not come to the forest in her time. She too would walk away from the forest. Did she feel that she could not bring the change that she wanted for that forest? Did she feel that the odds were against her? The mountain lion was the quality verse the quantity in the forest. The mountain lion was the only one that I worried about in the forest, even though she could stand on her own through everything the forest threw at her. The outside isn't as scary as you may think.
